'Look who is talking': Twitterati ridicule Mohammad Asif for calling Deepti Sharma a 'cheater'

A debatable run-out at the non-striker's end came into play in the third ODI between India Women and England Women at Lords.  England required 17 to win with one wicket remaining when a rare and rather frowned upon, but well within the ICC laws run-out happened known as Mankad.

Deepti Sharma stopped in her stride and mankaded Charlie Dean who was out of her crease and liable to being run out before the India bowler had bowled.

The farewell match of the veteran bowler Jhulan Goswami ended in boos and tears for Charlie Dean but soon the boos were drowned out by the jubilant Indian fans.

This expectedly triggered a polarising scenario over the run out on social media with people being in and against the favour of such a dismissal deemed to be against the spirit of the game.

Amidst several people who voiced their opinion, one was disgraced former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif, who didn’t take kindly to the run-out by the Indian all-rounder and went as far as calling her a 'cheater'.

"We can see it clearly there is no intention of bowling the ball, she is looking towards non striker batter to cheat him. This is very unfair & terrible act worst spirit. #mankading #mankad #Cheater #INDvsENG," he tweeted.

This being a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black was met with ceaseless trolling as fans on Twitter didn’t shy away from reminding Asif about his past of spot-fixing back in 2011 which led to the demise of ex-Pakistan’s cricketer’s career.
