The Indian Premier League (IPL) has announced the list of players for the upcoming auction on December 19 (Tuesday). From a total of 1,166 players who had registered for the auction, 333 cricketers have been shortlisted who will go under the hammer in Dubai.
The long list of 333 players includes 214 Indians and 119 overseas players. Only two players from the associate nation will be seen in the auction. A total of 116 players out of these are uncapped.
The 10 franchises need to fill a maximum of 77 slots combined. Out of 119 overseas players, there are 30 spots to be filled.
As many as 23 players have opted for the highest base price of Rs 2 crore. It includes the likes of Travis Head, Harry Brook, Gerald Coetzee, Pat Cummins, and others. On the other hand, 13 players have set a base price of Rs 1.5 crore including Wanindu Hasaranga, Phil Salt, and others.
The auction will start at 2:30 PM IST on December 19.
In total, the 10 franchises have RS 262.95 crore in their purses. Gujarat Titans (GT) may be seen splurging as they have Rs 38.15 crore left in the purse. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) may not raise the paddle often with just Rs 13.15 crore in the bag. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) new mentor Gautam Gambhir will have a lot on his plate with a maximum of 16 spots to fill including four overseas with Rs 32.7 crore.
