Arjun Tendulkar's first appearance for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024 was cut short due to an injury during their last match against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium on May 17. After missing the first 13 games, the young left-arm pacer had finally earned a spot in the playing XI as Mumbai opted to rest the injured Jasprit Bumrah. Arjun Tendulkar made a promising start and conceded just three runs in his first over and kept the dangerous Marcus Stoinis in check with his accurate deliveries. He continued his impressive display in the powerplay's final over, restricting the run flow and giving away only seven runs. However, Arjun's impressive spell was hampered in the 15th over. While entrusted with the crucial over by captain Hardik Pandya, he could only manage two deliveries. He pulled a muscle during his run-up for the first ball and, although he tried to continue after a physio check, the injury forced him to leave the field.
Nicholas Pooran whacks two straight sixes in Arjun Tendulkar's over
Tasked with bowling to the red-hot Nicholas Pooran, a batsman known for his explosive hitting, Arjun conceded two consecutive sixes. Pooran continued his dominant display against the incoming Naman Dhir, smashing two more sixes and a four with KL Rahul in the remaining deliveries of the over. Interestingly, the second six Pooran hit off Arjun propelled him to a well-deserved fifty off just 50 balls.
