Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be locking horns against Chennai Super Kings in match 68 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, on May 18. However, there are heavy chances of persistent rain and bad weather playing spoilsport and affecting the match proceedings. Even a washout is on the card to make things worse.
Bengaluru weather forecast predicts persistent rain
According to the report from weather.com, there will be precipitation up to 80 percent along with thunderstorms in Bengaluru, on May 18 (Saturday) and it will get higher between 5 pm to 11 pm. This can lead to a reduced-overs match but there is also a chance of potential washout.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru's qualification scenario if rain plays spoilsport
The hosts are already praying to the weather gods that rain doesn't spoil their party as this is the only opportunity they have to secure the spot in the top four. They need to beat CSK by 18 runs or chase their target in 18.1 overs if they score 200 runs.
Although, if the match gets washed out both teams will have to share a point and that will eliminate RCB from the playoff race. However, this will be an advantage for the Super Kings as they will end up with 15 points and straight away make it to the next stage.
