The Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah has announced special prize money for the unsung heroes of the latest edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He announced a hefty cash prize for the IPL groundsmen and curators of the 10 main and three additional grounds after the big Final clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai, on May 26 (Sunday).

Jay Shah announced this reward for the ground staff members after looking at their dedication and hard work in maintaining the pitches and grounds throughout the season. He said the regular 10n venues will get 25 Lakh INR and the additional ones will get 10 Lakh INR.
"The unsung heroes of our successful T20 season are the incredible ground staff who worked tirelessly to provide brilliant pitches, even in difficult weather conditions. As a token of our appreciation, the groundsmen and curators at the 10 regular IPL venues will receive INR 25 lakhs each, and the same at the 3 additional venues will get INR 10 lakhs each. Thank you for your dedication and hard work," Jay Shah tweeted.

Ahmadabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Chennai's M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium, Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium,, Kolkata's Eden Garden, Bangalore's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Lucknow's Ekana Stadium and Mullanpur's Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium were among the main venues for this season. Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium and Dharamsala-Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium also hosted the IPL matches this season. However, they only got a couple of games to host this season.

Jay Shah was also spotted talking with KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir after their stunning 8-wicket win against SRH in the IPL Final being played at the Chepauk Stadium. Currently, there is lot of buzz around Gambhir becoming the next Indian head coach. However, there is still no confirmed news on the matter. May 27 (Monday) is anyways the last date for contenders to file their application for this post.
