Kumar Sangakkara might consider becoming England's white-ball head coach.

A potential reunion between the Rajasthan Royals and former India head coach Rahul Dravid is on the horizon, thanks to a series of events involving the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara.

Rahul Dravid Set for Rajasthan Royals Reunion

As per a report by Cricbuzz, ECB is exploring the possibility of appointing Sangakkara, who currently serves as the head coach and director of cricket for the Rajasthan Royals, as their new white-ball coach. This development could pave the way for Rahul Dravid to take on a more prominent role within the Rajasthan Royals franchise.

Should Kumar Sangakkara accept the England white-ball coaching position, the Rajasthan Royals are poised to welcome back their former captain and coach, Rahul Dravid. Reports indicate that Dravid is the leading candidate to fill the coaching vacancy and his return is highly likely. Sangakkara recently addressed the speculation surrounding his potential appointment as England's white-ball coach. While confirming that he hasn't been approached by the ECB, he left open the possibility of taking up the role.

While speculation about Kumar Sangakkara's potential move to the England cricket team continues, the Sri Lankan legend has expressed satisfaction with his current role at the Rajasthan Royals. Sangakkara has enjoyed a successful four-year tenure with the franchise and has built strong relationships within the organisation. Notably, Sangakkara shares a positive relationship with Rob Key, the managing director of the England men's cricket team. Furthermore, his association with England captain Jos Buttler, who also plays for the Rajasthan Royals, could influence the ECB's decision-making process.

"Well, I know my name has been mentioned for some reason, but there has not been any approach as such. I think the England white-ball job is an exciting prospect for anyone, but there are so many good candidates out there. I am very happy at the moment. The Rajasthan Royals experience has been very fulfilling, and it has been a job I have really enjoyed over the last four years,” Sangakkara was quoted as saying by the English media.

ECB Begins Search for New White-Ball Coach

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has initiated the process of finding a replacement for Matthew Mott as the white-ball head coach. While the search is underway, no shortlist of candidates has been finalised yet. The ECB will conduct a formal interview process to select the most suitable individual for the role.

Notably, Marcus Trescothick was appointed interim coach for England’s white-ball teams by the ECB last week for the upcoming limited-overs series against Australia. Meanwhile, ECB has appointed Marcus Trescothick as interim coach following Matthew Mott's departure.
