Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans by 9 wickets with the help of Will Jack's 41-ball century and Virat Kohli's fifty in match 45 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on April 28 (Sunday). RCB registered their third win of the season and handed GT their 6th loss, making their qualification chances lesser.

Sai Sudharsan's unbeaten 84 helps GT post 200/3

Gujarat Titans were asked to bat first after losing the toss and they did not get the start they wanted as Swapnil Singh dismissed Wrddhiman Saha in the first over itself. The hosts could only put 42 runs on board inside the powerplay. Then they also lost the wicket of Shubman Gill in the seventh over.

However, young Sai Sudharsan (84 not out off 49 balls) and Shahrukh Khan (58 runs off 30 balls) joined a crucial 86-run partnership and revived the GT innings. From scoring 47 runs in the first seven overs, GT added 153 runs in the final 13 overs. David Millers then provided his team with finishing touch and smashed 26 runs off 19 balls. GT managed to post 200 runs on the board at the loss of just three wickets.

Virat Kohli-Will Jacks rattle GT bowling

GT had the chance to fight back but their plans were once again spoiled by Virat Kohli, who was later joined by Will Jacks. Both of them smashed astonishing half-centuries. Virat Kohli crossed the 500-run mark in yet another season. However, his 70-run knock of 44 balls was eclipsed by Will Jacks' maiden IPL century. Will Jacks smashed 28 runs in just 5 balls against Rashid Khan in the 16th over to complete his maiden IPL ton and lead Bengaluru to a thumping victory over former champions. He completed his century in just 41 balls.

RCB chased down the 201-run target from GT with 24 balls still remaining. This is also their second-highest successful chase in the history of IPL. They are now spoiling parties for a lot of teams. This loss has hit GT's qualification chances really hard. They are now in a must-win situation.
