Highlights:

MS Dhoni recorded a golden duck during CSK's IPL 2024 clash against PBKS.

It was Harshal Patel who took Dhoni's prized wicket.

With just one ball remaining in the second-to-last over of the CSK innings, batting legend MS Dhoni was dismissed for a golden duck by Punjab Kings bowler Harshal Patel in their IPL 2024 clash on May 5. Dhoni entered the crease to join Ravindra Jadeja after Patel demolished Shardul Thakur's wicket which left CSK reeling at 150/7. Thakur, attempting a big shot, was bowled for a quickfire 17 off 11 balls. The crowd erupted as Dhoni walked in, their cheers quickly turning to stunned silence as Patel outsmarted the former Indian captain. A slower ball, pitched perfectly on off-stump, deceived Dhoni. He attempted a poorly executed slog but completely missed the ball, which snuck past him and flattened his off-stump.

Crowd goes mum after Dhoni gets out for golden duck

Harshal Patel emerged as one of the standout bowlers for PBKS, claiming three crucial wickets, including the prized scalp of MS Dhoni. He conceded a mere 24 runs in his economical four-over spell, second only to Rahul Chahar's impressive figures.

Notably, during the clash against PBKS, CSK's former captain MS Dhoni came out to bat at number nine for the first time in his T20 career. However, his stint at the crease was brief as he was dismissed by Harshal Patel for a golden duck in the penultimate over of the match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Following Dhoni's dismissal, CSK found themselves in a precarious position, with the scoreboard showing 151/8. Punjab Kings had emerged victorious in the last five encounters against Chennai, the most recent being at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

Despite the setback, the team led by Ruturaj Gaikwad managed to reach a total of 167/9 by the end of their 20 overs, largely propelled by Ravindra Jadeja's 26-ball 43.
