Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant is under the threat of facing a ban of one match in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The star wicket-keeper batter has already been fined twice for maintaining a slow over rate. If he is found guilty of the same one more time, he will either be banned for one match or be fined 100 percent of his match fee.
During DC's second offense of the season, Pant was fined an amount of INR 24 lakh and the rest of the members of the Playing XI and the impact player faced an INR 6 lakh fine each or 25 percent of their match fee, whichever is lesser as per the IPL's Code of Conduct which relates to minimum over-rate offences.
Rules for slow over-rate offence
As per the IPL rules, the captain is fined Rs 12 lakh for his first slow over-rate offence. The captain's fine is doubled to Rs 24 lakh, with every member of the playing XI also being fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fees for the second offence.
However, if the repeats the offence for a third time in the same season the amount goes up to Rs 30 lakh with thereat of captain also receiving a one-match ban.
DC beat LSG to climb up on points table
Delhi Capitals have reached the number 9 spot on the points table with their stunning win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, on April 12. They were at the bottom of the points table but the win would boost their confidence going ahead in the tournament.
