Dinesh Karthik's sensational knock of 83 runs off just 35 balls stunned everyone. His knock brought Royal Challengers Bengaluru extremely close in a record chase, he could not ensure RCB's win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but helped them avoid an embarrassing loss in match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, on April 15 (Monday). RCB coach Andy Flowers praised Karthik's knock and said that he has made a great statement to be included in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Dinesh Karthik is having an astonishing IPL season and has amassed 226 runs in 7 matches with a strike rate of 205. Flower believes that the wicket-keeper batter is knocking at the doorsteps of BCCI selectors to be a part of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024.

"Dinesh Karthik is really making a push for the World Cup team as well and is only getting better on the field. I am really proud of the way we fought with the bat out there in the middle. We lost the game but I was really proud of the way we fought," Andy Flower was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Dinesh Karthik might be making a strong case for himself but this won't be the first time that he made his way through the Indian World Cup team after a great IPL season. The veteran Indian player made it into India's squad for the T20 World Cup back in 2022 after performing astonishingly well for RCB. Now many are stating that we can witness something similar this time around as well.

However, there will be a lot of competition for the wicket-keeper batter spot in the Indian team. Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson and KL Rahul are also the names that would be running for the same position in the playing XI.
