The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is witnessing really high-scoring matches every now and then. What makes it more interesting is that despite scoring 250-plus scores teams have to struggle extremely hard in order to defend it. Last Night Punjab Kings chased down 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders and a similar sight was almost gonna be there in the clash between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, on April 27 (Saturday). DC captain Rishabh Pant has blamed the impact-player rule for this.

Delhi Capitals might have picked up a 10-run win over Mumbai Indians but even till the last over, they weren't sure of their victory despite posting 257/4 in the first innings. MI tried hard but despite all efforts eventually fell short in the end. Rishabh Pant has blamed the impact-player rules for these close chases and having trouble defending 250-plus scores.

“We were pretty happy with 250 on the board but with impact sub it is getting difficult each and every day. Definitely, I can do that (come up to the stumps) but the bowler also should be confident, but with a batter like David was walking down and today it worked,” said Pant in the post-match presentation.

Pant praises Fraser-McGurk

Jake Fraser-McGurk has been the star highlight of Delhi's batting line-up. His blazing 84-run knock off just 27 balls set the base for DC's win. He even received the Player of the Match award for his astonishing innings that rattled MI's bowlers. Pant heavily praised the young player and said he is getting better with each game.

“He (Fraser-McGurk) has been amazing since the first day and this is what you want from a younger player, he's getting better and better with each game. The chances (of making it to the playoffs) are increasing day by day, but we are taking it one game at a time,” said Pant.
