Punjab Kings’ speedster Kagiso Rabada backed young pacer Arshdeep Singh ahead of their upcoming match. He believes Arshdeep has become one of the key players of PBKS. The Punjab-based franchise has a strong pace attack that consists the likes of Arshdeep Singh, England all-rounder Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada.

PBKS is currently at the seventh spot in the points table with only one win from their three matches. PBKS will be competing against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on April 4. So far Arshdeep has taken four wickets with an economy of 9.48 in this season. He generally bowls in the powerplay with the new ball and also plays a crucial role during the death overs.

His teammate and South African pacer Kagiso Rabada have mentioned him as the dependable bowler for the PBKS and said the team depends on his performance. He further said that he has grown with time as he is only 24 and he has proved himself at this level.

Kagiso Rabada on Arshdeep Singh

"He (Arshdeep) has become a bowler that teams depend on. And that shows signs of a bowler who knows what he's doing and a bowler who delivers when he is under pressure. That's just what he's becoming as time goes on. Without putting too much pressure on the guy. He's just 24… I mean, he must just enjoy his cricket. Too many times people put this huge expectation on players, especially when they're young and they just enjoying the cricket. However, he has proven that over the years he's a guy you can go to when your team is under pressure. And that speaks volumes," Kagiso Rabada told Hindustan Times

Arshdeep Singh made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2019 for PBKS. Till then, he is part of the franchise and PBKS retained him ahead of the mega auction in 2022. With his performance in the IPL, he went on to play for the national team and was part of the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. In 2023, last season in 14 matches he grabbed 17 wickets at an economy of 9.70.

Rabada also talked about the pitches and said that after some time there will be less bounce on the wickets but fast bowlers have more chances of taking wickets than the pinners because they bowl more than the spinners and the team has more fast bowlers than the spinners.

"Fast bowlers have more chances of getting wickets. Eventually, when the tournament does go on, there'll be less bounce, but I think fast bowlers are always in the game. Because generally, you have more fast bowlers than you do spinners in a team and fast bowlers have more chances of getting wickets because they're constantly bowling. But then again, the cream will always rise to the top. When it comes to the spinners you'll always see the wicket-taking spinners up there... the wrist spinners and the mystery spinners they're the ones who take more wickets in this format," Rabada added.
