Delhi Capitals (DC) ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav is likely to remain sidelined for a few more matches of the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Kuldeep Yadav has been advised to rest by the doctors. The left-arm arm wrist spinner is dealing with a groin problem that has already forced him to miss the last two matches for the Delhi Capitals. As per the report, there is no timeline for Kuldeep's return just yet.
Kuldeep played first two matches for DC
Kuldeep played the opening two matches of the season for DC and bagged two wickets at an economy rate of 7.63. Despite Kuldeep's decent display with the ball, the Capitals ended up losing both their matches. Even though Kuldeep is currently nursing his groin niggle, the wrist spinner has been traveling with the DC squad.
BCCI too will monitor Kuldeep's injury
With the 2024 T20 World Cup scheduled to be played right after the conclusion of the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will also keep a close on eye on Kuldeep's injury. The wrist spinner has been in tremendous form with the ball of late and is in contention to be picked in India's squad for the T20 World Cup.
DC's performance in 2024 IPL so far
Rishabh Pant's DC is enduring a slow start to the cash-rich tournament. After losing their opening two matches of the season, the Capitals stormed back to defeat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and opened their account. In their next game, DC were destroyed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who registered the second-highest score in IPL history.
Currently, Pant's team is languishing in ninth place on the points table with just one win in four matches. DC's Net Run Rate (NRR) also took a massive beating after they lost by 106 runs against the KKR.
