Already ousted Mumbai Indians (MI) lock horns with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first in their IPL 2024 clash at the Wankhede stadium on May 17, Friday. MI lost their last match vs KKR, while LSG suffered defeat against DC in their previous encounter. Meanwhile, Hardik made big changes in MI's playing XIs as he brought in Arjun Tendulkar and Devald Brevis and kept out Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma. On the other hand, Matt Henry came in for Quinton De Kock in LSG's playing XI.
After winning the toss, MI skipper Hardik Pandya said:
"We're going to bowl. Chasing is always better at Wankhede and the ball comes on nicely on the bat. What character we bring into the last match matters, he says, and the fact that they're out might give them "more freedom" tonight. Couple of changes: No Bumrah so there's Arjun Tendulkar, Tilak Varma is out injured and in comes Brevis, Tim David is out as well."
Meanwhile, LSG captain KL Rahul after the toss said:
“Quinton misses out, Devdutt comes in. Matt Henry comes in. Those are the big changes. Obviously disappointed. We started well in the season. Couple of weeks ago we were sitting in the top four. But that's how the tournament is. It's an opportunity today to come out and play our best cricket and entertain the crowd.”

“72 meters down the ground, 66 meters on one side, 61 meters on the other. Fourth time this pitch is being used. Looks like a typical Mumbai pitch. Going to be a lot of runs, but there will also be a bit of help for the spinners. Little cracks are there which means the pitch is a little dry. If spinners are used well, they can put brakes on the batters,” Matthew Hayden and Sunil Gavaskar analysed the pitch.
