IPL 2024 Orange Cap: Abhishek Sharma storms into top 5 after blistering knock in SRH vs CSK clash, Virat Kohli's supremacy continues

Abhishek Sharma cracked a scintillating 37 runs off 12 balls in SRH's win over CSK.

Riding on his lightning knock, Abhishek broke into top 5 of most run getters list of IPL 2024.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 6, thanks to Abhishek Sharma's lightning knock. The 23-year-old smashed a quickfire 37 off just 12 deliveries, propelling him back into the top five of the IPL 2024 Orange Cap race. With 161 runs in four matches, Sharma is now firmly in contention for the title of leading run-scorer.

Virat Kohli remains at the top of the Orange Cap standings with 203 runs, followed by Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals with 181 runs. Heinrich Klaasen, SRH's wicketkeeper-batter, played a supporting role with an unbeaten 10 off 11 deliveries in the match. However, his total of 177 runs keeps him comfortably in third position. Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill sits closely behind him at fourth with 164 runs.

Aiden Markram provided further stability for SRH with a well-constructed half-century (50 off 36 balls) as they chased down the target of 166 runs in 18.1 overs. Earlier, CSK posted a decent total of 165/5 on the board, with Shivam Dube top-scoring with a blistering 45 off 24 balls. The SRH bowling attack shared the spoils effectively, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Jaydev Unadkat each taking a wicket.

Who was the Orange Cap winner in IPL 2023?

Veteran batsman Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore maintained his reputation as a batting force, finishing fourth with a total of 639 runs. Rounding out the top five was a rising star, Yashasvi Jaiswal. This young talent impressed everyone with a remarkable 625 runs, solidifying his presence in the IPL arena.
