Rajasthan Royals (RR), boasting a perfect record of four wins, finally suffered their first defeat in their IPL 2024 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 10. The former champions Gujarat Titans, snatched a dramatic last-ball victory, putting an end to the Royals' winning streak.

Rajasthan set a formidable target of 196 runs, thanks to fiery knocks from Riyan Parag (76 runs off 48 balls) and Sanju Samson (unbeaten 68 runs off 38 balls). However, the Gujarat Titans displayed exceptional grit in their chase. The final over became a nail-biter, but the Titans emerged victorious, securing a much-needed two points and altering the IPL 2024's points table.

 

Gujarat Titans jump to sixth spot in IPL 2024's points table 

This win propelled the Gujarat Titans a place up the table, moving them from seventh to sixth position. Despite their loss, the Rajasthan Royals retained their top spot, although their perfect record was tarnished. The rest of the top four remained unchanged, with Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, and Chennai Super Kings holding onto their respective positions of second, third, and fourth. The ripple effect of the GT-RR clash was felt further down the table. Punjab Kings, who suffered a narrow two-run defeat against the Sunrisers Hyderabad a day earlier, slipped down to seventh place after Gujarat's win.

The Top Four: Only the top four teams in the final league standings will advance to the playoffs.
Qualifier 1: The teams ranked first and second will face off in Qualifier 1. The winner of this match automatically qualifies for the final.
Eliminator: The teams ranked third and fourth will battle it out in the Eliminator. The winner gets a second chance to reach the final.
Qualifier 2: The loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator will play Qualifier 2. The victor of this match secures a spot in the final.
The Grand Finale: Scheduled for May 26, the final will determine the champion of IPL 2024.
