In the 51st match of IPL 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a significant blow to Mumbai Indians (MI), defeating them by 24 runs. This loss has virtually dashed Mumbai's hopes of qualifying for the playoffs, as they have now won only three of their 11 matches, placing them ninth in the points table.

KKR's victory has strengthened their position in the playoff race, enhancing their status as strong contenders. With this win, KKR has moved closer to securing a playoff spot. They currently stand second in the league table with 14 points from 10 matches, just two points behind the Rajasthan Royals, who lead with 16 points. Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad are not far behind, each with 12 points and occupying the third and fourth positions, respectively.

KKR dash MI's hopes
