SRH moved to third spot in the IPL 2024's points table after dominant win over LSG.

SRH hammered LSG by 10 wickets on May 8.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024's points table has seen a massive shift after a cracking contest between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 8. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are enjoying a resurgence this season. Their dominant 10-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 8 propelled them to the third position, pushing defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) down to fourth. Despite their recent win against Punjab Kings (PBKS), CSK remains just behind SRH.

LSG's playoff chance take a hit

The battle for the playoffs is intensifying. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) currently sit in sixth place with six wins. Delhi Capitals (DC) edge them out in the fifth position after their 20-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 7.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson's RR, despite losing their last two matches, remains strong at the second position with eight wins in eleven games. However, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) currently occupies the top spot with an impressive eight wins and a superior net run rate of 1.453. These two teams are well on their way to securing playoff berths.

Unfortunately, five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have been eliminated from playoff contention. With only four wins in twelve matches, their recent victory against SRH on May 6th wasn't enough to salvage their season.

A high-pressure clash awaits Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they meet in Dharamshala on May 9. Both teams desperately need the two points on offer to keep their playoff hopes alive. Currently, both RCB and PBKS sit precariously with just four wins from eleven matches.  RCB will enter the contest with some momentum after securing a victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their previous encounter.  However, PBKS will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the same venue, Dharamsala.
