Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal (RR) remains firmly atop the leaderboard with 12 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah (MI) has an opportunity to move ahead when his team faces Punjab Kings on Thursday, April 18.
Let's have a look at the list of bowlers who are in contention of Purple Cup after GT vs DC clash
- 1. Yuzvendra Chahal (RR): The leg-spinner remains a standout in the tournament, topping the wicket-taking leaderboard once again. Chahal's role as the primary wicket-taker for the Royals has been crucial, consistently dismissing some of the most formidable batters and tipping the scales in his team's favor. He has claimed 12 wickets so far, maintaining an economy rate of 8.34 runs per over.
2. Jasprit Bumrah (MI): The Indian fast bowler continues to excel in T20 cricket, consistently securing wickets for MI despite the team's uncertain start to the 2024 season. The team depends heavily on their premier bowler as they aim for a playoff spot. Bumrah has accumulated 10 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 6.08 runs per over.
3. Khaleel Ahmed (DC): This season has been remarkable for the left-arm pacer. Although DC has struggled to perform consistently as a team, Khaleel has shone brightly, effectively handling the new ball and delivering crucial overs towards the end of innings. In a recent match against GT, he added another wicket to his total, bringing him to third in the wicket rankings with 10 wickets, though his economy rate lags behind Bumrah's, positioning him third.
4. Mustafizur Rahman (CSK): Known as "The Fizz," Mustafizur continues to impress in his role with the defending champions. Starting the season strongly, he remains a pivotal part of CSK's formidable pace battery. He has also secured 10 wickets, but his economy rate, though competitive, does not match that of Bumrah or Khaleel, placing him fourth.
5. Pat Cummins (SRH): The Australian skipper continues to excel both as a leader and a bowler. His captaincy appears to enhance his wicket-taking ability, making him a key player in a high-performing team that many opponents regard with caution. Cummins has notched up nine wickets at an excellent economy rate of 7.87 runs per over.
