The RR vs KKR match got washed out with a ball being bowled.

Now RR will lock horns with RCB in the Eliminator 1.

Heavy rain in Guwahati played spoilsport in the match 70 of IPL 2024 as Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clash got abandoned with a bowl being bowled on May 19 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The abandoned match between RR and KKR has shaken up the IPL 2024 playoffs. While KKR's position remained unaffected, RR faced a consequence. Despite a valiant attempt to salvage the match, rain ultimately emerged victorious in the RR vs KKR clash. A frantic effort saw a toss conducted for a shortened 7-over-a-side game, with KKR winning the toss and electing to field. However, just as the match was about to begin, the heavens opened up once more, making play impossible. Faced with this downpour, both captains were left with no choice but to shake hands and accept the inevitable washout.

RR, KKR share spoils

Both teams get one point each after the washed out match, leaving RR with 17 points in 14 games. Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) win against Punjab Kings earlier in the day boosted them to second on the table with 17 points but a superior net run rate (+0.414) compared to RR's (+0.273).
This relegated RR to third place, forcing them to play the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bengaluru instead of the more advantageous Qualifier 1.

Despite the washout, KKR continued to reign supreme in the points table with 20 points in 14 matches. Which means they will lock horns with SRH in the Qualifier 1.

Coming off four straight losses and now a washout, Rajasthan head into the Eliminator with a significant lack of momentum. To make matters worse, they'll face a red-hot RCB side that recently enjoyed a six-game winning streak. A loss in the Eliminator would be a season-ending blow for RR, denying them any chance of reaching Qualifier 2 on May 24 in Chennai or the finals on May 26, both held at Chepauk Stadium.

RCB Enters Playoffs With Confidence

RCB, on the other hand, arrives at the playoffs on a high note. RCB's dramatic 27-run victory against CSK secured their place in the final four. This win, coupled with their recent winning streak, has instilled immense confidence in the RCB team. They will play the winner of the Eliminator match in Qualifier 1, with the opportunity to earn a direct spot in the finals. This turn of events sets the stage for a thrilling Eliminator clash. RR, potentially shaky and lacking form, will need to find a way to overcome a confident RCB side brimming with momentum. The outcome of this high-pressure match will have major implications for both teams' title hopes.
