The thrilling season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will start with a clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22.
The IPL 2024 initial schedule for 17 days was announced on February 22. 21 matches will be played from March 22 to April 7 across 10 cities. During this span, each team will play at least three matches and up to five matches. The IPL schedule for the second phase will be announced later.
The partial IPL schedule was declared due to the Lok Sabha elections. The complete IPL dates will be announced soon as the Election Commission of India has released the full schedule of the General Polls on March 16.
Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will kick off their campaign in IPL 2024 on March 23 as they will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

SRH won IPL title in 2016
Talking about SRH's track record, the Hyderabad-based franchise earned the IPL title in 2016 after thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. During the match, SRH chose to bat first after winning the toss and scored a formidable 208/7. In reply, RCB managed to score 200/7 and fell short of their target. However, In 2008, SRH ended up as a runners-up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Mumbai.
Australia's World Cup-winning captain Cummins is all set to lead SRH in IPL 2024. He replaced South African Aiden Markram, who led SRH in the 2023 season. The 30-year-old was acquired by SRH for a whopping Rs. 20.50 crore in the IPL auctions in December last year. He also became the second most expensive player in the IPL history.
