Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain and maverick batter, Virat Kohli continued his love affair with the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on March 25 (Monday). Kohli rode his luck against Punjab Kings and scored a match-winning half-century to help his franchise get off the mark in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli was dropped when he was on zero and made the Punjab Kings pay for their mistake.

In his innings embellished with 11 fours and two sixes, the stylish right-handed batter scored 77 runs off 49 balls and batted with a strike rate of 157.14. For his terrific display with the bat, Kohli was awarded the Man of the Match award.

Kohli cherishes the 'memories'

The crowd inside the Chinnaswamy Stadium was going berserk when Kohli was dispatching balls towards the boundaries with elegant shots. There was bedlam inside the stadium as the fans were jumping, hollering, and reveling in Kohli's batting. After the match, Kohli acknowledged the support he has received from RCB fans over the years.

"It's been going on for years (love story with fans at Chinnaswamy)," Kohli told the broadcasters, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

"People talk about a lot of other things when you play sport - achievement, stats, numbers. But when you look back it's the memories you create. Rahul bhai in the change room says the same nowadays. When you play, play your heart out because you're going to miss these times. The love, appreciation and backing I've received has been amazing," he added.

Kohli on 'promoting the game'

Kohli took a jibe at people questioning his place in India's T20 World Cup side after the stylish batter rolled back the clock and played an attractive knock.

“I know my name is now attached to just promoting the game in different parts of the world when it comes to T20 cricket. I've still got it I guess,” he told the broadcasters.
