The Indian Premier League (IPL) trading window is likely to reopen on December 20, a day after the auction will take place in Dubai. As per reports, the trade window will be closed in February 2024, a month ahead of the mega tournament’s start.
All 10 franchises were given a chance to submit their list of retained and released players before the mini-auction. Hardik Pandya was traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to Mumbai Indians (MI) a day after the trading window was closed.
During the trade window, a player can be bought by another franchise in an all-cash deal whereas the other includes a player swap. As per the rules of the league, the trading window opens a month after the end of the season. It will remain open until a week before the auction date. It will reopen again before the start of next season.
Meanwhile, the 10 franchises will go up against each other to fill a maximum of 77 slots including 30 overseas players.
