Mumbai Indians' star wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been fined for a violation of the IPL's Code of Conduct during their match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday, April 27 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The exact nature of the offense wasn't disclosed, but Kishan has accepted the Match Referee's decision and a 10 per cent penalty on his match fee has been imposed.
"Kishan committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee's sanction," an IPL statement read.
"For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."
What does the Article 2.2 of IPL's code of conduct say?
Notably, Article 2.2 of the code of conduct covers misuse of equipment (cricket gear, player clothing), field equipment, and stadium fixtures during a match.
“Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board.”

Talking about the match, it was a disappointing outing for both Ishan Kishan (20 off 14) and the Mumbai Indians on Saturday. Despite a blazing start on a pitch conducive to batting, the 25-year-old Kishan couldn't capitalise, hindering Mumbai's ability to maximize the powerplay overs.
Chasing a demanding 258 runs, Mumbai showed fighting spirit despite early setbacks. Their middle and lower order stepped up with some impressive shot-making, keeping the chase alive. However, Delhi Capitals held their nerve at crucial junctures, picking up key wickets to swing the momentum back in their favor and secure the win.
The chase for Mumbai Indians started promisingly, with them scoring over 60 runs in the powerplay. However, their momentum was hampered by the quick dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav. A glimmer of hope emerged when Hardik Pandya smashed a quickfire 46 off just 24 balls. Later, Tilak Varma and Tim David partnered for a rapid 70-run stand in just 29 deliveries. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for Mumbai, as they finished with a score of 247/9, falling short of the target by 10 runs. This loss leaves them languishing near the bottom of the league table with only six points from nine matches.
Earlier, DC set the stage for a high-scoring encounter. Jake Fraser-McGurk stole the show, equaling his own record for the fastest IPL fifty, reaching the milestone in a mere 15 balls. He even took apart Jasprit Bumrah, smashing him for 18 runs in the second over. Although Bumrah came back strong in the sixth over, conceding just three runs, Delhi cruised to a score of 92/0 at the end of the powerplay. Fraser-McGurk continued his onslaught, scoring a blazing 84 runs off just 27 balls before being dismissed by Piyush Chawla. After a brief period of consolidation, Shai Hope kept the fireworks going, scoring a quickfire 41 off 17 balls. While he fell to Luke Wood, the pacer was punished by Tristan Stubbs in his final over, conceding 26 runs. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 48 off 25 balls, ensuring Delhi finished with a mammoth total of 257/4.
