Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Mitchell Starc, who is also the most expensive player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, expressed his lack of concern regarding his performance in the tournament. Starc showcased his prowess by claiming three wickets while conceding only 28 runs within his allotted overs against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). KKR effectively restricted LSG to a total of 161/7. Subsequently, KKR's batters successfully chased down the target in a mere 15.4 overs, securing victory by 8 wickets.
In the previous year's auction, Mitchell Starc made history by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history, with KKR acquiring him for a staggering INR 24.75 Cr. Despite facing criticism early in the current season due to his performance not aligning with his high price tag, Starc showcased a remarkable comeback in the match against LSG at Eden Gardens.
Lack of T20 cricket doesn't bother Starc
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Mitchell Starc dismissed concerns regarding his price tag, emphasising that his sporadic participation in T20 cricket doesn't weigh on his mind. Since the T20 World Cup 2022, Starc has only featured in two T20Is for Australia.
"I don't read anything so that doesn't bother me. I haven't played a lot of T20 cricket in the last couple of years, so it's probably taken me a little bit longer than I would have liked to get back into the rhythm of things and make a better impact. So today was nice in that regard," said Starc.
"It's T20 cricket. For the guys that play a lot of Test cricket, this is certainly a lot easier physically. It's probably more about getting used to the tactical side of it," he added.
Starc further talked about his workload and pointed out that it is easy for players to play T20 who only play Test cricket. Starc because of his workload management didn’t take part in the IPL since 2015.
"I'm 34, so I'm pretty good with my workloads. I've been doing this a long time, so that's fine. It's T20 cricket. For the guys that play a lot of Test cricket, this is certainly a lot easier physically. It's probably more getting used to the tactical side of it," Starc said.
