Kolkata Knight Riders will be locking horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Final of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on May 26 (Sunday). All eyes will be on this summit clash but fans are also worried about rain spoiling the match proceedings. However, there is a chance that KKR might win the IPL title for the third time and that too without playing.
Chennai weather forecast
The Chennai weather forecast does not predict too much rain. As per the Accuweather's report, there is only a 3 per cent chance of pouring, and that too only passing showers. It is very unlikely of rain to play spoilsport during the game time. However, the weather has been unpredictable so far and has caused a washout on a few occasions. There was also rain on the eve of the big clash, which also affected the Knights' practice session.
What's the Reserve Day plan?
There are extra 120 minutes available on Sunday for the match to start if rain disrupts. This means if the game is set to start at 7:30 it can start till 9:30 without over deductions but if persistent rain does not allow the match to proceed in the allotted time, BCCI has kept May 27 (Monday) as the reserve day for the IPL 2024 Final.
How can KKR win IPL 2024 Final without even playing?
If the rain is there on the reserve day as well. Then umpires would want at least a 5-over-a-side match but if that isn't possible either, they will try to go for a super over. However, if in some bizarre scenario, even that is not possible, then KKR will be awarded with the IPL trophy as they finished the league stage at the top of the points table.
