Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) rising pace sensation Mayank Yadav has become the talk of the town after his stunning display of fast bowling in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 during the clash against Royals Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 2. Mayank claimed three wickets in his four-over spell and decimated the top order of RCB. He conceded only 14 runs as LSG hammered RCB by 28 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Mayank Breaks His Record
Notably, the 21-year-old prodigy scripted history by becoming the first bowler in IPL history to earn the ‘Player of the Match’ award in his first two matches. With this, LSG entered the top four with four points after the first three matches. He surpassed his own record of the fastest ball with a 156.7 kph delivery on April 2.
After the match, Mayank took to Instagram and shared a post with the caption: ‘Look mom I can fly’.

Mayank Stars with 3 wickets
The fast bowler made an impressive debut against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and snapped up three wickets for 27 runs. Now, he has joined an elite list of players and embarked on his name along with Lasith Malinga, Amit Singh, Mayank Markande, and Jofra Archer. His blistering pace against RCB further solidified his reputation as a potent bowling force in the IPL.
In the match itself, Quinton de Kock slammed a half-century, while Nicholas Pooran’s explosive finish propelled LSG to a competitive total of 181/5 before they bundled out RCB for 153 runs as Mayank came up with a three-fer.
Meanwhile, Mayank stunning spell left the opposition captain Faf du Plessis in awe. He was impressed by Mayank’s ability and discipline.
"It is the new action you haven't faced before, and especially if there is a bit of pace behind it that's promising, It takes batters time to get used to someone's action to see how the ball is coming out of the hand. So obviously pace is one thing but what impressed me tonight was his ability to control length and bowl with some really good discipline as well, so it's the pace combined with accuracy," Du Plessis said at the post-match presentation.
