CSK were defeated by DC by 20 runs in match 13 of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).

In that game, Dhoni refused to take a single despite Ravindra Jadeja batting at the other end.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on March 31, legendary MS Dhoni turned back time with a classic innings, captivating millions despite the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) facing defeat. The former CSK captain unleashed an entertaining 37-run blitz off just 16 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. Despite Dhoni's unbeaten effort, the Super Kings fell short by 20 runs. Coming in to bat at the eighth position, Dhoni had only 16 balls to make his impact.

During his knock, Dhoni refused to take a single despite Ravindra Jadeja batting at the other end. With CSK needing every run they possibly score, Dhoni's decision was surprising, to say the least.

"I know there was a lot of hoopla about Dhoni's innings but he blocked a lot of balls. He faced a lot of dots and then when he started to not take runs, I could not believe what I was watching. I know he is the great MS Dhoni but it was a poor call. It was a really poor call not to take those runs," Doull told Cricbuzz.

"You are still trying to win the game and I know it is his first bat in a long time, first bat of the season and he is probably thinking at some stage of maybe getting to find some form but I didn't agree with it. I didn't agree with what happened in that situation. To me, it was a really poor look. I was watching it and thinking you know, it didn't look good for me. That just didn't look quite right to me when he wasn't taking runs," Doull added.
