MS Dhoni, the iconic captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), recently responded to a fan's request to support Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Known for his loyalty and leadership, Dhoni, who steered CSK to a championship victory last season, acknowledged RCB as a strong team but emphasised his commitment to CSK and its fans.

Under Dhoni's captaincy, CSK clinched the IPL 2023 title after a thrilling chase of a revised 171-run target against Gujarat Titans in a rain-affected final. Post-victory, Dhoni confirmed his participation in the 2024 IPL season, much to the delight of his fans and the CSK fraternity.

During a public event, a fan representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp asked Dhoni to extend his support to RCB in the next season. In his response, Dhoni tactfully praised the overall strength of all IPL teams, while expressing that it wouldn't be fair to the CSK fanbase if he were to support another team, highlighting his unwavering dedication to the Chennai-based franchise.

"They are a very good team. But what you also need to know is that in cricket, everything doesn't go according to plan. So If you're talking about the IPL, all the 10 teams, more often than not, if they have the good players, all of them are very strong teams," said Dhoni.

"The problem arises if you're missing a few players because of injury or reasons like that. So they have a very good team and everyone has a fair chance in the IPL. As of now, I have so many things to worry about in my own team. I'd like to wish every team all the very best. But I can't really do more than that because imagine me going out of the way to help other teams, how will our fans feel?," the CSK skipper added.

In preparation for the 2024 season, CSK made strategic changes to their squad, releasing eight players before the retention deadline. They then bolstered their lineup by acquiring six new players: Daryl Mitchell for Rs 14 crore, Sameer Rizvi for Rs 8.4 crore, Shardul Thakur for Rs 4 crore, Rachin Ravindra for Rs 1.8 crore, Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 2 crore, and Avanish Rao Aravelly for Rs 20 lakh.
