Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shikhar Dhawan shared a heartfelt message for his son, Zoravar amid his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He posted a couple of pictures where he can be seen wearing a jersey with his son’s name on the back. Back in October 2012, Dhawan tied the knot with Ayesha Mukherjee. After eight years of marriage, Dhawan had filed for divorce because his wife Ayesha Mukherjee had been mentally agonising him and kept his son away for years. A Delhi court approved Dhawan's divorce from his wife, citing ‘cruelty’ inflicted upon him. Dhawan continuously shares posts with his son on his social media account.
Dhawan shared pictures on his Instagram with the caption, “You’re Always with Me, My Boy”.
Dhawan penned the emotional post on his son Zoravar's birthday
Last year in December, Dhawan shared a strong message for his son on his birthday. He recalled the times when he last met his son. He also claimed that he has been blocked from all social platforms through which he could connect to his son.
"It's been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I've been blocked from everywhere, so posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday. Even if I can't connect with you directly, I connect with you through Telepathy. I am so proud of you, and I know you're doing great and growing up nicely," Dhawan wrote.
"Papa always misses you and loves you. He's always positive, waiting with a smile for the time when we will meet again by the Grace of God. Be naughty but not destructive, be a giver, be humble, compassionate, patient, and strong. Despite not seeing you, I write you messages almost every day, asking about your well-being and daily life, sharing what I'm doing and what's new in my life. Love you loads Zora. Papa," he added.
Dhawan's performance in IPL 2024
Despite personal struggles, Dhawan has remained focused on the field. Notably, in the ongoing IPL edition, he has scored 152 runs from five games at an average of 30.40 and a strike rate of 125.61 so far. 38-year-old Dhawan is currently recovering from a niggle. He didn’t play against Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and their stand-in captain Sam Curran led the side. It was later revealed that he injured his right shoulder while playing a match against Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
