Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challenges Bengaluru by four wickets in the Eliminator of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on May 22 (Wednesday). Reflecting on the big win over RCB, RR's star performer Rovman Powell said that the situation was not as difficult as it seemed.
Rovman Powell on win against RCB
Rovman Powell smashed the winning runs against RCB. He hit a six against Lockie Ferguson and ensured RR's qualification to the next round. The WI captain believed that it was not difficult as all they had to do was put bat to the ball.
“It (situation) wasn't that difficult. It was situation where you had to put bat to ball, thankfully i minimized the pressure. I wanted to tell him to be positive than look for singles and unfortunately, he got out. (On his batting position) If it was up to me I would take it a little bit earlier. Having said that we have quality batters and you have to accept the role and I am looking forward to contribute more in this role,” said Rovman Powell in the post-match presentation.
“Sometimes you need things like these (Four catches). First catch (off Faf) was the one that let me take four catches. If I had put that down, it would be a haan, tough day in the field kind of situation. When you have good player like Faf and Virat you want those half chances to come to you. You put the body on the line. We have been playing good cricket overall this season, last few games we messed up. Guys are looking forward to playing in Chennai,” he added.
Rovman Powell played a cameo of 16 runs off just 8 balls. He smashed 14 runs in the 19th over and ensured RR's win. His blitz helped the Royals to pick up a victory with one over remaining.
RR to face SRH in Qualifier 2
Rajasthan will now fly to Chennai, where they will compete against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, on May 24 (Friday) and the winner of that match will then face Kolkata Knight Riders in the Final of IPL 2024.
