Superstar India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter, Virat Kohli is gearing up to make his comeback to cricket after the 35-year-old missed the entirety of the recently concluded Test series between India and England. In an exclusive information accessed by the Sports Tak, Virat Kohli is set to join the RCB camp in Bengaluru soon. According to a source, Kohli is set to join the RCB camp as early as March 16.
Virat Kohli - The heart and soul of RCB
Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to play for one franchise since its inception. Since 2008, Kohli has enthralled the RCB and cricket fans around the world with his majestic stroke-making display. In the last 16 years with the franchise, Kohli has evolved into an absolute superstar and the poster boy of the RCB.
With his match-winning effort with the bat and aggressive brand of cricket on the field, Kohli has propelled the RCB franchise as one of the most popular teams in the world.
Virat Kohli's IPL career
Last season, Kohli was in sensational form with the bat as he amassed 639 runs in 14 matches with the help of six fifties and two centuries. He batted with a strike rate of 139.82 and smacked 65 fours and 16 sixes. Despite Kohli's best efforts with the bat and on the field, RCB ended their campaign with disappointment as the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs.
Kohli is still in search of an elusive IPL title
Virat Kohli is yet to win an IPL title despite featuring in 16 editions of the tournament. Kohli came close to leading the franchise to glory in the 2016 season but RCB faltered at the last hurdle, losing the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Kohli was also part of the RCB team that reached the finals in 2009 and 2011, but on both occasions, the franchise ended up finishing as runners-up.
The upcoming edition presents another chance for Kohli and RCB to finally bring an end to their title drought and give their passionate fans the trophy that they have been craving since 2008.
