Kohli amassed 741 runs in 15 matches of IPL 2024.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) Virat Kohli has secured the Orange Cap for the 2024 IPL season. He concluded the tournament as the top run-scorer, that too by a significant margin. No other batsman even came close to matching his impressive tally of 741 runs in just 15 matches. This dominant performance included a well-deserved century and two well-crafted fifties. While his team, RCB, were unfortunately eliminated from IPL 2024 after going down to Rajasthan Royals in Eliminator, Kohli's individual brilliance throughout the season hogged limelight.

While Travis Head had a chance to potentially challenge Kohli's dominance, his recent outings haven't been fruitful. Head fell short in the second qualifier and was dismissed for a duck in the IPL 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad. This effectively ended his chase for the Orange Cap, leaving him with a total of 567 runs. The race for second place is still ongoing, with Ruturaj Gaikwad currently holding the spot with 583 runs. Following him closely is Riyan Parag with 573 runs. Rounding out the top five are Travis Head and Sanju Samson.

Virat Kohli's historic milestone

Meanwhile, Kohli scripted history after stamping his authority on IPL 2024's Orange Cap as he became the first Indian player ever to claim it twice in the glitzy league's history. This adds another impressive achievement to his already decorated career. Kohli previously secured the Orange Cap in 2016 with a phenomenal season, scoring a record-breaking 973 runs and smashing four centuries.
