Kohli recently returned to India to participate in the cash-rich tournament after spending the last two months in London for the birth of his second child. In a candid chat after the game on Monday, Kohli revealed how it felt to spend time with his family while being away from the public eye.
"We were in a place where people were not recognising us. Just time together as a family, just to feel normal for two months - for me, my family. It was a surreal experience," Virat Kohli told host broadcasters.
"Of course, having two kids, things become totally different from a family perspective. Just the ability to be together, the connections you make with your older child. Couldn't have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family," he added.
How was Kohli's performance against PBKS?
After struggling for rhythm during his first outing of the IPL 2024 campaign, Kohli found his strokes against the Punjab Kings on Monday, albeit after being handed an early lifeline. It would have been a disastrous start for the RCB had Jonny Bairstow not dropped a sitter in the first over when Kohli was on Zero.
From there on, Kohli capitalised on the chance provided by the PBKS and played glorious shots en route registering his first half-century of the season. Kohli scored 77 runs with the help of 11 fours and two sixes and earned the Man of the Match award for his stupendous batting.
