Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns in the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Dhoni's troops will take to the field in search of their fourth IPL crown, but three coincidences suggest Morgan's men will emerge victorious tonight and end the seven-year drought.
Coincidence no 1: Sunil Narine's lucky scalp
No, it wasn't a mistake the coincidence is related to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli. Narine had last dismissed Kohli in the eliminator of IPL 2014 and eventually KKR went on to become a champion that season. In the same manner, Narine dismissed Kohli in the IPL 2021 eliminator, the coincidence could prove to be lucky for KKR once more. In between, the KKR bowler has not been able to dismiss Kohli in any format.
Coincidence no 2: KKR's Delhi connection
KKR made it to the final of IPL 2021 by winning the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals (DC) by three wickets in the last over. Similarly, in the 2012 edition also, KKR had beaten Delhi in the playoffs and went on to win the final against CSK. For KKR fans, it's déjà vu all over again.
Coincidence no 3: KKR's 100 per cent final record
Before this edition, KKR had made it to the final twice in the IPL's history, and on both occasions they were crowned champions. In 2012, they had beaten CSK while in 2014, they had beaten the Punjab franchise, both under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Tactically, KKR is maintaining a 100 per cent record in the finals and that’s one more thing which is pointing towards their win tonight.
