Vijay Hazare Trophy, Indian cricket’s limited over competition in domestic circuit often turns out to be a platform to showcase a young player's skill and talent. This year’s Vijay Hazare tournament which ended on December 26, was no different as multiple young players proved their mettle and for some veterans the event did come up as a crucial lifeline. 

 

Players like, T Natarajan, Varun Chakravarthy, Venkatesh Iyer, have made it to the national team on the  basis of their Indian Premier League performance. The IPL auction for the year 2022 is slated to take place in Bengaluru, in the month of February.

 

At a critical juncture like this, it is needless to say that brilliant performances in the Vijay Hazare trophy will seriously attract the attention of IPL franchises who will be involved in the auction. 

 

Here are the 5 players from Vijay Hazare who can secure a million dollar deal in the auctions.

 

Rishi Dhawan

The list has to start with Vijay Hazare -winning skipper of Himachal Pradesh Rishi Dhawan. The 31-year-old player has previously taken part in multiple editions of IPL and the all-rounder is expected to do well in the upcoming auction. Dhawan became the second-highest run-scorer with 458 runs in eight innings and had a strike rate of 127.22. He was also the second-highest wicket-taker with 17 wickets.

 

Yash Thakur

Vidarbha’s Yash Thakur can appear to be a surprise package at the auctions in Bengaluru. The 23-year-old medium pacer scalped 18 wickets in the recently-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy and became the highest wicket taker of the event as well. The right-arm bowler bowled at an economy rate of 5.72 and registered a five-wicket haul (against Himachal Pradesh) and a four-wicket haul (Tripura) each.

 

Prashant Chopra

Himachal Pradesh batsman Prashant Chopra became the third-highest run scorer with 456 runs from 8 games. The 29-year-old batsman notched five half centuries in the tournament with a highest score of 99 runs. The right-handed batsman had been a part of the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup winning- India Team. The 29-year-old batsman can surely attract some limelight at the auctions.

 

Shahrukh Khan 

Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan was released by IPL franchise Punjab Kings. In the Vijay Hazare, Khan managed to score 253 runs from 8 games at a strike rate of 186.02 and average of 42.16. The 26-year-old batter can play match-winning knocks while batting lower down the order and the Tamil Nadu-born will indeed be a big attention puller at the IPL auctions. 

 

Washingotn Sundar

Like Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore also decided to release Washington Sundar for the next season’s edition. The 22 year-old player became the third-highest wicket taker of the Vijay Hazare after scalping 16 wickets in 8 games at an average of 23.35. Sundar has 27 wickets under his belt in 42 matches in IPL. The right-arm off break bowler is expected to create a bidding war at the auctions.
