Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale: Sehwag mocks Morgan for heated exchange with Ashwin

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has weighed in on the controversial exchange between Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Ravichandran Ashwin and Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Eoin Morgan on September 28. In a tweet, Sehwag has mocked Morgan, comparing the incident in yesterday’s game to World Cup 2019 final where the ball went for a boundary after it ricocheted off Ben Stokes’ bat in the last over.

After the match, Dinesh Karthik, who intervened to stop the on-field argument revealed why Morgan had a few words for Ashwin after his wicket.

“Rahul Tripathi threw the ball, it hit Rishabh Pant, and then ricocheted,” Karthik said talking about what happened on the final ball of the penultimate over of DC’s innings.

“And Ashwin called for it and they started to run. I don’t think Morgan appreciates that. I think he’s somebody who, when the ball hits the batsman or the bat, he expects them not to run in the spirit of cricket,” the wicketkeeper-batsman added.

Sehwag shared a screenshot of the statement along with a tweet in his own sarcastic style. He tweeted, “On July 14th, 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina ? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale”.

Sehwag is not the only prominent cricketer who has reacted on the controversy. Former Australian spinner Shane Warne tweeted that Morgan has every right to nail Ashwin.

Warne tweeted: “ The world shouldn’t be divided on this topic and Ashwin. It’s pretty simple - it’s disgraceful & should never happen. Why does Ashwin have to be that guy again ? I think Morgan had every right to nail him !!!!”
