The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered another major blow as their star batter Litton Das has pulled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). It has been understood that the reason behind Litton's withdrawal from the glitzy league is family emergency. Notably, Litton is the second Bangladesh's player after Shakib Al Hasan to opt out of the sixteenth season of the IPL.
"Litton Das has had to return to Bangladesh earlier today (Friday 28 April) due to an urgent family medical emergency. Our wishes go out to him and his family to make it through this difficult time," the statement released by KKR read.
Litton could play just one match for KKR in the IPL 2023 against Delhi Capitals in which he scored mere 4 runs while opening and was then dropped in the following matches against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The 28-year-old linked up with KKR a little late since he was on international duty as Bangladesh hosted Ireland for the only Test which they won by seven wickets.
Litton’s withdrawal meant Mustafizur Rahman is the only Bangladeshi player who is featuring in IPL 2023.
Talking about KKR's campaign this season, they lost four matches straight before staging a comeback against RCB which they won by 21 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
