'Deepak Chahar will be out for 4-5 games': CSK legend makes concerning prediction regarding injury-prone pacer's availability

Four-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won their second consecutive game as they thrashed arch-rivals and five-time champions, Mumbai Indian (MI) by seven wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 8 (Saturday). It was a collective team effort from the Men in Yellow as multiple players chipped in with a handy contribution. Having said that the Men in Yellow also suffered a massive blow as the team's premier pacer Deepak Chahar hobbled off the ground.

And if goes by former CSK batter Suresh Raina's comments then the franchise is set to miss Chahar in their next few IPL games after his left hamstring injury seemed to have resurfaced once again.

Chahar was out for a better part of 2022 due to a hamstring injury and it was frustrating to see him hobbling after bowling one over against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

"It seems Deepak will be out for 4-5 games. It looks he has again sustained hamstring injury and looked in discomfort. All the other IPL venues are far off from Chennai and there will be lot of travelling involved," Raina said on Jio Cinema.

Speaking to CSK TV ahead of his team's second match against the Lucknow Super Giants earlier in the season, Chahar was wary about falling for a recurring injury, something that has plagued the Indian national team players in recent times.

“I know how to deal with injuries, but this time it was longer. It was at least eight months. For a fast bowler, coming back from an injury is a difficult task. Hopefully, I don’t get it again and I play this entire season and year injury free. I have been lucky to be part of a good team and a good environment. If you have an environment, where everyone is supporting each other. And if you are always talking about winning the tournament. That’s where you reach the finals and win the finals,” Chahar said.
