'Dissapointed of the crowd... not great umpiring either': Heinrich Klaasen lashes out after controversial no-ball call causes ruckus

Heinrich Klaasen was left disappointed after an unfortunate incident spoiled his rhythm in the clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The third umpire’s controversial no-ball call followed by Hyderabad crowd throwing nuts and bolts at LSG dugout caused a delay in the proceedings during the 19th over of SRH. After SRH’s innings, Klaasen expressed his disappointment as he missed his half-century by three runs along with a chance to help his side post a big total.

“Disappointed of the crowd to be honest, that's not what you want. That also broke the momentum, not great umpiring either,” the South Africa wicketkeeper-batter told the broadcasters.

Klaasen helped SRH recover from two quick wickets of skipper Aiden Markram and Glenn Phillips in the 13th over. He shared a 58-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Samad. This is the joint-highest partnership for SRH in IPL history.

“The wicket changed quickly in the middle. There was some spin and decent amount of bounce, there were a few rippers (Markram and Phillips' wicket) that broke the momentum, it was difficult to play the harder length balls,”

Klaasen got out trying to hit Avesh's delivery over long-on but did not have enough power behind it. Prerak Mankad took an easy catch at long-on. The Proteas batter missed his half-century. He scored 47 runs from 29 balls including three sixes and as many fours. The partnership helped SRH post a fighting total of 182/6.

Few hours later, Klaasen was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 which states the use of public criticism/inappropriate comment in the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Despite Klaasen’s heroics, SRH lost the match by seven wickets as Nicholas Pooran went berserk with a 13-ball 44 in slog overs to guide LSG home with four balls to spare.

The 31-year-old has been in good form in his maiden season for SRH. He has scored 262 runs from nine innings at an average of 43.67 including one half-century. He has scored runs at an impressive strike rate of 180.69.
