CSK’s run in IPL 2022
Under the leadership of new captain Jadeja, CSK had a poor IPL 2022 season as they were knocked out of the playoffs race early on at the league stage. Jadeja could not cope with the pressure of captaincy and it affected all aspects of his game. The star all-rounder got injured and missed a few games as well.
Midway through the season, Jadeja stepped down and Dhoni donned the captaincy hat once again. However, even the Midas touch of Dhoni could not save CSK from finishing at the bottom half of the table. With just four wins from 14 games, CSK finished just above Mumbai Indians (MI) on the basis of a better net run rate (NRR).
Also, they missed the services of their bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar who was ruled out of the whole season before the tournament kicked off. Chahar was roped in for a whopping Rs 14 crore by CSK in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
