'Enjoy the game at all costs': Virat Kohli gifts injured David Willey's son a signed bat with inspirational message

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Virat Kohli had a heartwarming gesture for David Willey’s son as he gave him a signed bat with an inspirational message. Willey was ruled out of IPL 2023 last week due to a fractured toe and adductor strain. The English bowling all-rounder had to fly back home to start his rehabilitation. Kohli gifted Willey’s son who will be starting his first cricket season

On May 2, Willey shared a photo of his son holding the bat with the message reading, “Dear Jacob, wish you the very best for your first cricket season. Enjoy the game at all costs.”

Willey thanked Kohli for the surprise as the caption read: “Future @royalchallengersbangalore player? Every cloud - Kids super happy to have me home early. Super special surprise for my boy as he starts his first cricket season. A personal message and signed bat from @virat.kohli - Thank you.”

Willey was picked by RCB in the mega auction for Rs 2 crore and was retained for the ongoing season. He played four games for RCB this season in the absence of Reece Topley who got injured in the first game. He took three wickets at an average of 35 and conceded runs at an economy rate of seven runs per over.

Willey was replaced by former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Kedar Jadhav who was until recently involved in the commentary panel of Jio Cinema.

Meanwhile, Kohli had to face the brunt for his heated exchange with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) mentor Gautam Gambhir and their overseas recruits Naveen-ul-Haq and Kyle Mayers. Kohli was fined 100 per cent of his match fees for the heated exchange after RCB’s convincing 18-run win at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on April 1.

'If you can give it, you gotta take it back as well. Otherwise don't give it," Kohli said in the RCB dressing room after their win away from home.

Also Kohli posted a cryptic story with a message on his Instagram that read, "Everything that we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth."
