Chennai Super Kings (CSK) booked their place in Indian Premier League (IPL) final on May 23 (Tuesday) after defeating defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in Qualifier 1. MS Dhoni's Super Kings qualified for a record 10th IPL final after putting in a complete team effort against a strong Gujarat team. CSK skipper once again put on a masterclass of captaincy as he rotated the bowlers in sublime fashion and kept GT batter's guessing.
After CSK stormed into yet another final, franchise legend Suresh Raina lavished profound praise on Dhoni and said that everything the wicketkeeper-batter touches turn to gold.
"Look at how they reached the Finals, 14 season 10 finals, I think it's a great achievement. MS Dhoni kept it simple. He deserves credit and Ruturaj (Gaikwad) had told me that CSK wants to win the title for Dhoni. Entire India wants to see Dhoni win the IPL," said Raina on Jio Cinema.
"What we got to see today is that it's very challenging to beat Chennai on this ground. Everything he touches turns to gold, and that's why he's named Mahendra Singh Dhoni," he added.
From being the second-worst team in IPL 2022 to becoming the second-best in 2023, CSK returned to their vintage self in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich tournament and the franchise is now on the cusp of creating history. Several heroes have been behind the revival of the second most successful franchise in IPL history but none bigger than the poster boy and captain, Dhoni. One of the greatest leaders of all time has used the resources at his disposal in flawless fashion while his tactics and shrewd strategies have propelled the Men in Yellow to the final.
Under Dhoni's leadership, players like right-arm fast bowler Tushar Deshpande and explosive batter Shivam Dube have evolved to become genuine match-winners for the Super Kings.
