Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) fast growing spinner Ravi Bishnoi has impressed everyone with his prowess with the ball which has grabbed umpteen eyeballs. The 21-year-old was roped in by the new entrants LSG for Rs 4 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

In an exclusive interview with Sports Tak, Bishnoi spoke at length about who he looks up to and has been following to grow his skills as a bowler.

Bishnoi revealed that he has been observing India's star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan as the duo have made a statement with their top notch show.

Bishnoi, who first represented Punjab Kings (PBSK) in 2020, turned everyone's heads with his knack of spin.

The leg-spinner opened up about how Chahal has supported him in his journey. “I used to watch Anil Kumble and Shane Warne a lot when I was young. These days I am following the likes of Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal because they have been very successful in modern-day cricket and I am trying to learn from them,” Bishnoi told Sportstak.

“Chahal has been very supportive and has guided me a lot. Chahal always remains calm and he has an idea of which balls to bowl during different situations. He is mentally very strong,” he added while praising Chahal.

In five matches of the IPL 2022, Bishnoi has taken four wickets so far and has been a real asset for LSG>

Playing under KL Rahul, Bishnoi also said that he aims to achieve laurels for his team in the cash-rich event this year and is focused on making a mark.

“I haven’t really thought much about making it to the T20 World Cup squad. If I get the chance, then I would surely want to grab it with both hands. But presently, my focus is on the IPL and I don’t think too far ahead. If I get a chance, I will give my best in the T20 World Cup. It has been a while since we won an ICC trophy,” Bishnoi said.

Bishnoi also praised his skipper Rahul for being very understanding and supportive. He played under Rahul’s captaincy earlier as well, when the two represented PBKS.

Bishnoi made his international debut in a T20I series against West Indies played in February 2022. The young leg-spinner in his debut match scalped two wickets while only spending 17 runs in his four-over quota. The 21-year old has transformed into a valuable spinner being under the guidance of head coach Anil Kumble for PBKS in last season.
