Former India and two-time World Cup-winning captain, MS Dhoni is currently spending time with his family in Ranchi. The wicketkeeper-batter will return to action in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he is slated to lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in yet another season of the cash-rich tournament. The veteran cricketer has started preparation for the IPL at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
Dhoni's special preparation
The right-handed willow-wielder is working on his craft in the nets for around 40 minutes along with spending some time in the gym in order to attain supreme fitness. When it comes to net sessions, the CSK captain is spending most of his time batting against the leg-spinners. Interestingly, Dhoni didn't face even a single pacer in the nets in Ranchi. The right-handed batter worked on his defense against spinners and also unleashed a couple of attractive shots in the nets.
When will the camp start?
The CSK franchise is likely to start the training camp for the upcoming season of IPL in the first week of March. The cash-rich tournament is likely to commence either in the last week of March or the first week of April.
2022 - A season to forget
The Men in Yellow endured a horrendous season last year in the cash-rich tournament. The season began with Dhoni passing the leadership baton to Ravindra Jadeja and what ensued was a complete disaster. Jadeja led CSK in the first eight matches of the season and the franchise could only register a win in two of those games. Soon after, Jadeja relinquished captaincy and Dhoni was back at the helm.
The poster boy of CSK couldn't weave his magic as the franchise failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Men in Yellow finished the season in the ninth position on the points table after winning just four out of the 14 matches played.
