Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered a late scare but were able to pull through and secure a victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, May 7, courtesy of some brilliant batting by their openers and then the prowess of their death-over batters Adbul Samad and Glenn Phillips. Also, Sandeep Sharma's no-ball on the last delivery of the match turned out to be devastating for Sanju Samson's team.

Needing 41 runs off the last two overs, the Sunrisers were staring at another defeat which would have potentially ended their chances of making the playoffs. New Zealand's Glenn Phillips exploded in the 19th overs and smacked three consecutive sixes followed by a four to turn the game on its head.

Kuldip Yadav conceded 24 runs off the 19th overs and the equation was down to 17 runs needed from the last six balls. Sandeep was pumped for a six by Samad on the second ball but the right-arm pacer bowled three good deliveries after that. On the last ball of the match, Samad was caught at long-off but as it turned our, it was a no-ball. The grave error from Sandeep gave another chance to Sunrisers and Samad deposited the ball into the stands to roll out a win for his side.

After the game, Phillips recalled the scene inside the dressing room when the third-umpire deemed Sandeep Sharma's delivery a no-ball. The Kiwi batter said that players could hardly watch the game as nervousness overpowered them.

"Oh, my goodness! When that when off, I had a towel in mind and I think buried my face in it and said 'not another one'. When that siren went off, everybody went absolutely nuts," Phillips told Jio Cinema.

"It was obviously a bit of commotion as we had to figure out whether they ran two or we needed 4 off the last ball. At the end of the day, I was like 'cricket is going to be what cricket is going to be'. If the next ball goes out of the park, that's what it was meant to be. You sometimes need a little bit of luck in cricket," he added.
