Former India speedster S Sreesanth, who was part of the country's T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2007 as well as the ODI World Cup-winning team in 2011, has been thoroughly impressed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad. Looking at how Gaikwad is currently batting and his maturity, the ex-India pacer believes that the youngster would make for a good captain in the future.

Sreesanth has tipped the right-handed batter to succeed Dhoni at CSK once the latter decides to walk away from playing the game. Apart from lavishing praise on Gaikwad's exquisite stroke-making skills, Sreesanth also urged the young batter to convert his fifties into hundreds and utilise the current form in the best way possible.

"But in the case of Ruturaj, he is getting better and better, everything he is doing. The maturity he is showing, I genuinely see a good captain in him in the future because he is transforming himself as a batsman and the way he is talking to the other batsman when he is batting with them, I think it's brilliant. I would love to see him score more hundreds in this IPL because the form he is in, he is going very good," Sreesanth opined while commentating on Star Sports.

Talking about Gaikwad, the stylish batter has enjoyed a stellar beginning to the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In two innings so far, the opening batter has struck as many half-centuries. The most attractive part of Gaikwad's batting so far has been the intent displayed by him and how he has managed to keep his strike rate on the higher side even after the powerplay overs.

In the opening match against Gujarat Titans, Gaikwad played a belligerent knock of 92 runs off just 50 balls. He smashed four fours and nine sixes in his innings against the Titans. Against Lucknow Super Giants on April 3 (Monday, the stylish batter sizzled again and registered 57 runs off 31 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes. Overall, Gaikwad has aggregated 149 runs in two matches and is currently the Orange Cap holder.
