With the appointment of new captain Mayank Agarwal, the rechristened Punjab Kings (PBKS) will look for change of fortune when they lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their IPL 2022 opening match on March 27 at DY Patil Stadium. PBKS are still in hunt of their maiden IPL trophy. The team reached the final only once in IPL 2014, where they finished as runners-up. After IPL 2014, the team has never managed to reach the playoffs.
A total of 70 league matches will be played from March 26 to May 22. The playoffs dates have not been finalised yet but the final will be played on May 29. The matches will be held across four venues in Maharashtra. Wankhede and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will play hosts to 15 games each.
