IPL 2022: KKR batter Nitish Rana breaks fridge glass in SRH dugout with powerful sixer

Indian Premier League (IPL) Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the better side against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after beating the two-time champions by seven wickets during their match at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday (April 15). After another top-order collapse for KKR, the side needed Nitish Rana and Andre Russell to steady the ship and help them to a total of 175 runs.

During KKR's batting, a funny incident took place in the SRH dugout involving Rana. The 28-year-old cut a ball from pacer bowler Umran Malik over the third man region for a massive six. As the ball sailed over the fence, it took a bounce right in front of the SRH dugout, before smashing into the glass of their cooling fridge, leaving a gaping hole in the glass for all to see.

The incident drew the attention of the SRH players and members of their coaching staff as well as the commentators during the game as this is actually not the first time that Rana had broken something in the dugout. Last season also he broke the camera lens.

Rana had been struggling for runs this season with he accounting for a string of scores like 10, 0 and 8. He ended his bad run against the Delhi Capitals (DC) with a cameo inning of 30. Against Hyderabad, Rana was a standout performer for KKR in their batting. He hit a brilliant 54 to dig his team out of a difficult situation, and was ably helped by West Indian opener Andre Russell, as the Kolkata-based franchise put up a challenging score.

However, SRH managed to reach the target within only 17.5 overs and seven wickets remaining. The victory gave the Hyderabad-based outfit a push to the seventh spot, having won their last three matches in the five games that they have played so far. KKR, on the other hand, are placed fourth currently in the points table, having slipped down the table with consecutive defeats against DC and then SRH.
