Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL continued his love affair with Mumbai Indians (MI) continued as he belted second ton of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against the five-time champions at Wankhede stadium on Sunday (April 24).
Rahul smashed an unbeaten 103 off 62 balls which were loaded with four maximums and 12 boundaries as it was his second century on the 15th edition of IPL, that too against the same franchise MI in a matter of eight days.
The 30-year-old now holds the record of scoring most IPL hundreds against a single opponent that too in a single season.
In the last outing against the Rohit Sharma-led side, Rahul belted 103 in 60 balls in the first leg of the IPL 2022.
Rahul's brilliant knock spurred LSG to 168/6 as the second highest scorer was Manish Pandey with 22 as other batters failed to make significant contribution. For MI, Jasprit Bumrah was the best bowler with 1 for 31 in 4 overs while Kieron Pollard had best figures with 2/8 in two overs.
Not just this, with this stunning knock, a flurry of records followed the Karnataka-born batter.
Rahul also became the only second batter after Virat Kohli to score two centuries against the same team in a season of the IPL. Virat Kohli had achieved the feat in 2016 when he got 2 of his 4 hundreds against now-defunct Gujarat Lions.
